Korea
2008-2012
I started painting on glass when I moved to South Korea after college. I couldn't find canvasses, but found plenty of glass left out as junk. It was mostly tabletop glass.

A lot of my early work was done with acrylic paints. Opacity is a big deal to me, and it took many layers of acrylic to acquire. I transitioned to spraypaint once I had an outdoor space to spray in.

I use contact paper as a mask. Clear contact paper allows me to draft a design on one side of the glass and then cut it out with a blade on the other side.

Most of these paintings are still in South Korea, or were broken when I tried bringing them back. The two faces are the only ones that I currently have from this time period. They live in our kitchen at Hemlock House.
